McWood Studios - Design + Fabrication

Founded in 1977 and expanded into our current facility in 2018, McWood Studios is a full-service design and fabrication company based in Toronto. While our name reflects our roots, wood is only one of the many materials and disciplines we work with.

For nearly five decades, we have collaborated with brands, artists, architects, designers, museums, galleries, retailers, and cultural institutions to bring ambitious ideas into the physical world. Our work spans brand activations, experiential marketing environments, retail displays, custom millwork, architectural features, museum exhibitions, public art installations, theatrical scenery, television sets, and one-of-a-kind fabricated objects.

What sets McWood apart is our ability to bridge design, engineering, fabrication, and installation under one roof. We thrive on complex projects that require creative problem-solving, technical expertise, and meticulous craftsmanship. Whether developing a large-scale experiential environment, a custom architectural feature, or an artist's vision, we work closely with our clients from concept through completion.

Operating from a 10,500-square-foot facility, our capabilities include a fully equipped metal shop with steel and aluminum welding, milling, and bending; a 5' × 10' CNC router; 3D printing and prototyping; a professional spray booth; and a dedicated scenic paint department. Our design team utilizes Rhino for 3D modeling and rendering, along with the Adobe Creative Suite for visualization, technical development, and project documentation.

From initial concept sketches and design development to fabrication, finishing, logistics, and installation, McWood Studios offers a complete turnkey solution. We can design, engineer, manage, build, paint, ship, and install projects of virtually any scale—locally, nationally, and internationally.

DESIGN & PROTOTYPING

From concept to completion, we provide drafting and rendering services using Rhino, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite. We help prototype, refine, and develop your project with precision and efficiency.

CNC

Working on a complex project or preparing for production? Our CNC cutting capabilities handle materials up to 5' x 10'. Applications include foam, solid wood, plywood, plastics and aluminum.

CARPENTRY

Custom scenery, lathing, cabinetry, and fine.

METAL

Custom steel and aluminum fabrication, including steel and aluminum welding, milling, and bending. We also produce stairs, fixtures, railings, and specialized metal components.

PAINTING

We have an amazing scenic painting department and a dedicated spray booth for high end commercials finishes.

LED, PLEXI AND SIGNAGE

Plexiglass cutting and fabrication, light boxes, vinyl application, LED design, and installation services.
