The Wizard of Oz theme allowed us to be creative with imagery and construction choices. The 6’ ruby slippers were built by Martin Purcell. They were animated by a gear assembly designed and built by McWood . Dorothy’s house contained the generator required for music and shoe power. The ‘wooden’ fences and flowers were fabricated in steel for performers safety and security on the parade route. The green emerald city masked the shoe mechanism access.
